skinny D belt

It's belt week over at Lemon Squeezy Home. Call me last minute but I decided to enter even though today is the last day! I don't think my belt isn't as unique or cool to win but it was fun to get involved anyway.

I made a really simple belt using cheap, cheap D-rings. If you already have the scraps on hand like I did, then this belt will only cost you I think about 40 cents. Walmart sells 4 small D-rings for about 70 some cents!

If you don't have scraps you would want to turn into a belt you can go to Joann's and get the fabric for not very much. At Joann's they cut down to the inch and all you need is 2 strips 2 inches wide.

Okay...let's get started.

- You need:

2 strips of fabric, 2 inches wide and about 6+ inches longer than your waist measurement. To give the belt more substance I used some of my gray duck canvas I have for another project coming up.

2 small D-rings

- To get two strips like this...

Iron the strips,
 folding the edges inward.

- Sandwich the strips together with the raw sides inward. Sew along both edges as close to the edge as possible.

- Take your sewn strip.
Slide the D rings onto one side and fold the raw edge under.

Sew closed.

- Try the belt on and determine how long you want it. Cut off the excess. Roll the end under and sew closed.

All done. See? Easy.

You can wear it the traditional way.

Or high up on your waist.

Tuck the tail in.

Or don't.

Flip the belt around for a slightly different look. Or make a two toned belt for a cool impact.

A fun, easy, inexpensive spin on the skinny belt.

Or if you are my husband...the weirdest thing he has seen anyone do with a belt. Thanks honey. :)
