Nesting with Sewing in No Mans Land

This beautiful mom is an amazing sewer with a slew of great patterns on her site. And her photography, nothing short of stunning and professional. Every shot. I love visiting her site, because I always leave amazed and inspired. 


Today she's sharing a very useful sewing project for her sweet little Chloe whom she had just three months ago. Here's Kelly...

Hi Delia Creates readers! I am Kelly from Sewing In No Mans Land and I am so excited to be here! Since I just had my own munchkin three months ago I am really enjoying this series and all the incredible inspiration! Before I had Chloe I had the best intentions of making her some sleep sacs. I absolutely hate dealing with snaps in the middle of the night and promised myself that this time around I would put her in jammies with no hardware ha! Of course life happened and I never got a chance to make them. So when Delia asked me to be part of this series I knew exactly what I was going to make, the Count Sheep Sleeper:

I bet you have all the things you need to make these cute little sleepers lying around your sewing room and believe me when I say they are SUPER easy!

Material list:

A onsie (new or old)

A quarter yard of fabric

Elastic

Any sort of embellishment you may want

  If you only have old onsies you can always dye them! These onesie were new but I tea died them because I really wanted that vintagey feel. It worked great! (4 lipton black teas bags to a boil, stick in onsies and let simmer for a while until they reach the desired color, cold rinse and let sit then throw in the wash before putting on your munchkin). I also decided to embellish my tops with some pre made doiles. You might want to do this at the beginning. I just used wonder under to attach mine and it work like a charm! First take your 1/4 year of fabric, fold it in half and sew up the side. This will be your back seam:

Now take your onsie and cut it right above the midsection

That is it!! I really LOVE how it looks on... of course I love anything on Chloe!

Now let the sleeping begin! Or at least the dreaded tummy time right?

At least she will look cute going it!
