Halloween Paper Decor

October 7, 2011 · Delia 15 Comments

Ever since I saw these bats from MADE, I wanted to try it out.
I sort of did with my specimen version last year.
 This year I made them into a flock and used the template link that Dana provides for you.
They just look so spooky…yet classy.
{Just ignore the bunny ears. We don’t have cable. :)}
Better on the inside, but also pretty nice from the outside. It looks very cool at night too.
I bought a big 50 sheet pack of paper from Michael’s {$2 with coupon!}, so  I just kept snipping and cutting and took the frame wall in our dining room….
And made it into this.
I’ve been wanting to do this ever since I put these frames up, so it’s fun to finally see it realized.
This part of the wall is my favorite.
I used some of the bats here, and for the rest I printed up some silhouettes/coloring pages from google images and used them as a template. The only exception is the cat. I free handed it. It’s my least favorite as a result. Oh well. 🙂
The spider web is made out of black yarn and the spider is a bunch of pipe cleaners twisted together.
Then I made a little mouse hole and mouse/rat for our wall by the stairs.
I just hope Reid will be able to leave the decorations alone. Good thing they’re just paper!
Even still, they’re my favorite Halloween decorations yet.
We’ve had a really cold snap here. We went from highs in the 80’s to highs in the 50’s this week. Brrrr…Fall is officially here. We are getting a lot of rain too so everything is dark and wet today, which I usually love, but it’s bad for indoor photography. I had to use a 1/15 second shutter speed! I was propping my elbows up and holding my breath to avoid camera shake. Phew…I’m out of breath. 🙂
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

    I love this idea- so simple but very cute! How did you attach the yarn for the spider web to the frame? Glue, staples, tacks?
