Candlestick Cake Plate

July 23, 2010 · Delia 1 Comment

I don’t. At least not lately anyway. But…I do have a cake plate! Yay!

I DO make cake on occasion…

Carrot Cake…after Dana made some I had it on the brain and just had to make some too.

Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting…Y.U.M.

But there is always something missing when I make my cakes. You know? Like a REAL elevated cake plate. See the dinner plate and the inverted tart pan on top of a ramekin substitutes?

I finally did it. I scored a plate from D.I. for $2…which honestly for me is overpriced but it was just the right kind of plate. Like my other glassware projects, I just clean the glass and glue it altogether with E-6000 glue. And now I have used all my candle sticks {see this project, and this one too for the others} and I have my pretty cake plate. It feels good.

It also makes a nice fruit plate. Don’t you think?

    Ummm. your cakes look AMAZING.
And I've been wanting to make sourdough bread for a while now. Now I know how!
    Thanks for posting about that.
