Mamarazzi

April 30, 2012 · Delia 20 Comments

It’s here! The photography series I’ve been wanting to write for weeks.

It’s not a series for professionals, because I’m not one. It’s a series for me, the me who got my camera three years ago and didn’t know what the heck I was doing. I’m hoping it will be of help to you too!

Of course you don’t have to be a mama to follow along! I heard the phrase on a photography site once and thought it was a clever name for this series. That’s all. 馃檪

In this series I’ll simply be sharing basics of what I know. I believe I still have a lot to learn, so don’t expect a comprehensive, text book how-to with each post.

聽I simply want to help you on your journey out of auto, from one self-taught photographer to another.聽

Here is how Mamarazzi is going to work:

* The series will run through the month of May.

*There will be one or more posts per week interspersed with other projects I have in the works.

I usually like to have several posts ready prior to the start of a series, but that is not the case this time. I will be writing in real time because I’m preparing for another series, Color Your Summer II coming in June. Kirstin and I have some fun ideas brewing. Should be exciting!

But that means the photography posts are going to be sporadic.

* There will be no guest posts, but if you have some helpful links, resources, or advice that has worked for you and you want to share it with other readers, your comments are encouraged! 馃檪

* I will be covering the following during the series…

-manual camera settings
-kit lenses
-the camera that I use
-helpful educational sites and other inspiration sites
-basic editing
-using a camera remote
-self portrait tips and more!

The series is geared toward dSLR cameras but you can apply what we discuss to a regular pocket camera. Many pocket cameras (and some camera phones) have manual settings, so don’t be afraid to follow along with whatever camera you have.

Top to bottom, left to right:
Basics
Focus
Self-Portraits (using a tripod and remote)
Exposure (over-exposure)
Photography Essentials
Photographing Children
Editing

Click on each picture for the post.

This will be exciting!! Also, I wanted to send you a kind thought regarding your husband being away- darn the blasted way of things with jobs right now! I truly hope things turn out smoothly to where you can have your family all together again sooner than later! No doubt your poor husband is miserable without you all! ((HUGS))
