Color My Summer Contest TOP Eleven

May 26, 2011 · Delia 22 Comments

Hello, hello!
We have the results for the Color My Summer Contest you’ve been waiting for!Thank you to everyone who entered the contest.

Here is the top ten…er ELEVEN.
We couldn’t narrow it down to ten – they were all so creative – so we bent the rules to accommodate one more finalist.
Here are the projects we felt were the most creative and had the most “aha!” factor,
in no particular order:

Blue Adjustable Maternity Swimsuit by Heather Feather from Feather’s Flights

Isn’t this amazing? I love how it grows with your belly. I am just in awe that she made her own swim suit, and a maternity one at that!

Plastic Cup Sun Catcher Mobile by Erin Barnes

This is made out of recycled plastic cups. Shrunk like shrinky dink plastic and hung so beautifully into this mobile/sun catcher. What a great older kid project as well. Nicely done.

Beach Comber Bag by Christina Roy from 2 Little Hooligans

Isn’t this so clever? It helps keep things nice and organized in an easy to carry tote. I love how it keeps everything upright so nothing leaks out.

Fabric Frisbee by Adeela Elkorazati from Sew Kool

I thought this was ingenious. What a great idea to use up scraps and to make a fun toy for the kids…or you! There is cardboard in the middle with a bias tape border.聽 Great idea Adeela!

Summer Sleepover Bag by Rachel Roy

This is a homemade sleep sack. She took some adorable fabric, some polyfil and made a great alternative to the character versions that are prevalent in stores. This is great for summer travel. I love that you can personalize it to what your child likes.

Pom Pons by Jessica Abbot from Me Sew Crazy

Aren’t these fun? If I had girls I would whip these up in heartbeat! As a former cheerleader myself, I can relate to how much fun these girls are having. 馃檪

Market Bag by Monica from Ma, Me, Mi….Mo

Here is a great, compact reusable grocery bag. Fits in a purse, in your glove compartment, wherever! And is so handy. Great project.

Rainbow Maracas by Rebecca Rendon from There is Beauty All Around

Aren’t these Rainbow Maracas so delightful? It’s a great paper mache kid project that seems just as fun to use as to make.

Kid’s Travel Bag by Sara Farney

Now this is clever. She sewed a blank map of the U.S. on the front of the bag. When they visit one of the states her son gets to color it in! Love it! And fun for when you take long road trips through multiple states.

One Handed Sarong by Rachel

This is going to make you squeal with delight…or maybe that’s just what I did when I first saw it. 馃檪 Not only is it cute but it is very very handy for a mom with little ones. I really can’t wait to make one this summer.

Juice Purse by Sara Ruiz from Stitching Up a Storm

Doesn’t this just look so summery? She only used six juice packets, so you could easily make one from one box of Capri Suns. It’s green, It’s water proof!, and I think the perfect size for a little girl {or even a big one :)}.

Wouldn’t you agree that this is one talented group of ladies?
聽
Congratulations to the TOP ELEVEN!
Now…Do you want find out who won?
Go see Kojodesigns
for the the final winners and some honorable mentions!
