When I was photographing the newspaper hat shorts post, I forgot to share this cool moment when a dragonfly came for a visit. Not just a little brief fly by, but this little guy posed for me for a good 2-3 minutes. I snapped a million pictures and thought I would share my favorites with you. I was so happy I had my camera with me! I was amazed at how close he let me get. Especially since I didn’t have my telephoto lens on me.
All summer we get pretty dragonflies zipping through our yard and especially around our garden. I love it. And speaking of our garden…
I think this is one of the reasons why I’m so excited for Fall. I LOVE pumpkins. All we have are a dozen or so gourd buds right now. But the plants are already growing like weeds. Seriously. The last time we grew pumpkins the plants overflowed over the sidewalk and into the lawn before we were done. And that’s with me trying to keep the vines in the garden plot. We have about 3-4 {can’t remember ha!} pumpkin plants in here. I’m crazy. I know.
聽I crammed as much in there as I could, but everything is still doing great so far. We have a ton of gourmet lettuce, some green beans, our shallots have gone to seed, and our soy beans should start coming on in a couple of weeks. As for the pumpkins, I got a mystery gourd seed mix so we should get a nice variety – I hope. Growing a garden is by far my favorite thing to do in the summer.
I’ve been using my easy knit produce bags at the farmer’s market and in our own garden, but I just don’t think it’s quite appropriate for the green beans. 馃檪
Yeah. They get nice and tangled in there. Plus they do keep longer in an airtight plastic bag in the fridge anyway. So I’ll just have to use my bags for everything but the beans. Our first zuchinni {yes I planted a zuchinni plant too…don’t judge :)} is sitting pretty in our fridge in a nice hot pink one right now.
Alright…so, I’ll stop blabbing and get to what you really want to know!

Awesome garden! My dad always plants the most incredible garden. I'm just sad we live so far away from him. He used to bring me over bowls of tomatoes, squash, carrots, cantaloupe and all sorts of yummy goodness. Ah I miss those days!

I am glad you got to do a garden this summer. It is so rewarding to plant seeds and get food when it is all grown. I love zucchini too, can't wait to do my first batch of zucchini bread yum.

Your pumpkin plants look like my cucumber plants! They just take over. Next year, I am only planing 2 cucumber and some squash/pumpkin. I have so many cucumbers to deal with! I made a few of the tee-shirt bags, I need to remember to use them for collecting the harvest! I'd love to plant shallot next year, but I've yet to find the seeds.
