the elevated vase

July 19, 2010 · Delia 7 Comments

I guess this could be considered a hurricane but I am using it as an elevated vase. Sounds kind of fancy to me. 馃槈

So this is my second candle stick glassware project. This time I taped masking tape lines around it and applied etching cream. I let it sit for 15-20 minutes even though the jar says to let it sit for 5 minutes which I think is never enough time.
Once that was done I glued the vase and the candle stick together with E-6000 glue.

All done.

I love the etched lines.

Uh huh. Yep.

OK, I thought it was a vase that you etched. Which is cool. But, you glued on a candle stick? Oh, I've seen these around, I don't have my head stuck completely in the ground, but this one looks seamless! Maybe it's your photo skills but it looks like it was made in one piece. Either way. Kudos to you! I love it!

I am loving these candlestick, elevating things you are doing.. lol… I went to a super huge Dollar Tree and found where I can get candlesticks for $1 and vases for $1!!! Great finds and you put them together for a great gift totalling a whopping $2!! 馃檪

I tried etching…once. It failed miserably. Perhaps because I followed the instructions! Next time, I'll leave the cream on longer just as you did. 馃檪

GORGEOUS idea!! I just bought some etching cream, so thanks for the tip about leaving it on longer!
