leather bow

August 17, 2010 · Delia 8 Comments

This is another Disney inspired project. I saw her Lauren Headband and loved it! Problem though. Headbands often give me a headache. Even remotely tight ones. So I tweaked it and made a clip instead. It is only a one tier bow but I really like it.

The leather is genuine too! I was surprised to find that my Hobby Lobby carried scrap bags {about one pounds worth} of leather for $3-4…and after the coupon…cha-ching! I plan on trying…I said trying…my baby shoe pattern on some of the scraps. I hear leather can be tricky.

So the bow is very simple and straightforward but here is the how to anyway…

I secured everything with hot glue. When you wrap the smaller piece around the middle, place the top of the clip underneath first for a clean look.

From other scraps I made a few flowers too. It was so fast and fun. I think leather looks very classy as well.

Add small dots of glue as you wrap. Cut a circle of felt/fleece to cover the top portion of the clip and to keep it looking clean.

And one more:

I cut petals and glued pinched tips to a felt back. I finished with a small rosette for the middle.

The flowers are fun but the bow is still my favorite one.

I believe I like it as a clip better! Great job! If only I could find time!
