Simple Birthday Party

September 18, 2010 · Delia 3 Comments

We had my son’s two year old birthday party today. No frills, no real fuss. We even requested in our simple invitation that no one bring presents. He’s two…and we don’t need more toys. 馃檪

聽

We just got together with a handful of friends to play at the park while eating cupcakes.

And he was happy as a cupcake about it. He got to blow out candles again, drink Yoohoo, and play with friends.

Don’t you just love how his knees knock together a little bit? I do. {gushing} He is still my baby even if he is already 2!

*Shirt was one of those generic shirts聽 from Hobby Lobby taken in at the sides {I always feel like they are too baggy}. I added the “2” applique on the front and the back from a old men’s shirt with wonder under and a zig zag stitch. Great tutorial here.

*Fondant is Marshmallow Fondant. A great recipe is found here. I used the neon regular food coloring to get the stronger colors. They cost the same as the basic colors and are much more fun!
Cupcakes were my basic yellow cupcake batter recipe but I divided it into three bowls and dyed each one with blue, green, and orange food coloring. I then layered them into the cupcake liners.

*The stand I used to put everything on is from this post here… plus a ramekin in the middle.

Happy Birthday Little One.

Bye now.

The first thing I noticed was how he still stood like a little guy with his knees together! Love it!

    Everything looked wonderful!
