Simple Diaper Shower

A couple of weeks ago I threw a diaper shower for my friend Megan. Nothing too fancy.
Megan had her daughter Emily about a month ago and she didn’t have much need for clothes and the like. So we opted for a diaper shower.
Just simple little touches. Light food, and some good conversation.
Inexpensive, yet classy invitations.
I won’t lie, what money this saves, it makes up in time consumption.
Still…once I thought of it I couldn’t settle for any other invitation. I just had to do this.
I cut rectangles of white muslin I had on hand. I honestly can’t remember the dimensions but I’ll guess that it was about 7 inches by 9 inches.
Then I printed up a simple message on white card stock {8 to a page} and cut them out.
Then I folded it like so…
{getting the tuck just right, takes practice but, by the 4th or 5th diaper you’ll probably be a pro}
…and pinned it closed with an inexpensive safety pin.
I love how these look all finished and stacked.
For a diaper shower, I felt it only fitting to make a diaper cake.
So I made one as a gift for my friend and wrapped it up in paper doilies.
So easy.
I love diaper showers because  there is really no guess work in the gift.
As the recipient, you get a variety of diapers that you can try out. It’s nice to find that the Kroger brand works almost as well as LUVS or Pampers.  Or that Huggies works better for this child than it did for your other kids.
————————————-
Just an FYI…I am going to start slowing it down around here. I will pop in at least once a week, likely more than that, but for most of the summer I’ll be “on break.”
Hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!

Awesome! Those invitations are precious. I'm bookmarking this for when my friend finally gets pregnant. Also, never thought of wrapping the diaper cake in doilies! Pretty! Have a fun summer with your boys. My girls aren't out of school until the 16th. What a drag. I have a whole list of fun things planned!

Very cute. The dollies around the diaper cake is a great idea. It really dresses it up.

I'm with Tara, diaper cakes usually just look like… something made of diapers. But yours is so classy!

Cute idea! I'm personally a fan of cloth diapers (they are so different from the prefolds and flats of yesteryear) but even a cloth diapering Mama would love this. I used disposables when I was out and about sometimes. I think I would use it as an opportunity to show off some modern cloth diapers, too…hmmm…ideas..
