Vintage Fabrics

January 6, 2011 · Delia 15 Comments

…and other stuff.

My mom recently let me raid her stash of fabric. She is a fabric hoarder and has a ton of great prints from the 80’s, 90’s and more recent ones.

Here is some fabric I remember seeing when I used to get into her sewing stuff as a little girl. So I know this one is vintage. I am not a huge fan of forest green on its own, but in this print…I adore it!

I *think* this one is vintage {as in from the 80’s} too but my mom and I couldn’t remember.

I pulled a bunch of other fabrics from my new stash to help me get in the mood for Valentines Day. That heart fabric…I still can’t believe she didn’t want it.

Isn’t washed, pressed, and folded fabric all stacked up just so pretty? So full of possibilities…

Here are some fat quarters. Unwrapped…sweet.

And here is a random mix of fabrics that sparked some project ideas.

I am really into that green and yellow print and had to include it even though I don’t know what to do with it yet. A purse? A bag? Hmmm. That would force me to learn how to sew a zipper…one of my new year’s resolutions.

I also scored some lace from the 80’s and 90’s, and these thimbles she had from my Grandmother.

Sigh…I am so happy!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!

My Mom had the same 80's heart fabric! I can't remember what she made with it, but I sure do remember the fabric!

What great fabrics… I really love the one with the hearts, it is so cute! You definitely have to try a zipper, it is really not that hard. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can… LOL! Now if only I could conquer buttonholes.

I'm trying not to be jealous, especially because I have a similar stash I got from my grandma's friend. I rarely buy fabric anymore. You scored some great prints. I'm working on some valentines projects right now, so I can't help but go crazy over that heart print.

Lucky girl! I also remember that heart fabric from the 80's. I'm pretty sure I had a jumper made out of it. I think we're pretty much in the same boat…regretting not learning more from our mothers and recently taking up sewing. Found your blog a couple of months ago. You are clearly destined for blogging greatness. =) Thanks for the great pictures and great ideas!

Oh my goodness- SO fabulous! Aren't moms the best?
I love the heart ones and the pink with the red dots is so fabulous too. Goodness.
Also, I got the same wreath as you at Walmart! 馃檪 I walked in and someone had just returned it and I knew it was meant to be. 馃檪

I got an invisible zipper foot for my sewing machine, and to my surprise, I actually figured out how to put an invisible zipper into things! I have been scared of zippers forever. There are instructions that come with the zipper itself that are actually pretty good. Now I can make pillow covers for my couch and change them out all the time. Love!!

I love all the fabrics! That red and white heart one is cute! I have created my own fabric hoard and have yet to sew amazing things! 馃檨 My goal for 2011 is to make my hoard less by creating wonderful things so I can buy more fabric 馃檪
