Almost Real Evergreen Wreath

December 8, 2011 · Delia 6 Comments

Two wreath posts in one week? Why not?
I was going to post another project, but this one was calling to me. I couldn’t help but admire it all day as it hung across the kitchen from me while I baked, cleaned {or tried}, crafted, helped with homework, and basically lived in the kitchen today.
Yes…that’s me in the mirror still in my pajamas snapping a picture.
Maybe it was the fresh pine needle smell carrying through our house.
Or that it only took me 5 minutes flat to make and cost nothing.
It’s simple…unadorned… but I lean toward that aesthetic.
I almost wasn’t going to post about it, because it is so easy…too easy… to put together.
All I did was, take branches that we trimmed from the bottom of our freshly bought Noble fir Christmas tree. Then stuffed them into a cheap plastic-y pine needle wreath from Michael’s, that I bought on clearance last year for $1 or so.
Those little wire branches were perfect for securing all the fresh pine boughs and scraps to the wreath.
And now…I have a wreath to sit nestled among all of our advent pictures.
It spreads the lovely Christmas pine aroma into more of our house and
I think…looks quite lovely.
It also brings me a little holiday peace which has been in short supply around here. I’m trying to slow down and enjoy Christmas, but life outside of the holidays has sped up a bit so…my efforts are not going very far lately.
Here’s to a more peaceful day!

Very pretty Delia! I might have to do that with the scraps from our tree. I LOVE pine smell. 馃檪

SO clever to use a plastic wreath and add the "real stuff" to it! I will definitely be doing this next year (our tree scraps are already in the compost bin).
