So…I promised a project today, but it’s more like an announcement.
I am starting a weekly on-going series that will run through Fall and Winter months. I’m calling it…
Hip Hooks…because I’m out to prove that crochet has a hip side.
Now…I know crochet has a bit of a bad rap. Justifiably so. For a long time, it’s been the knitters who have reigned supreme in the stylish fiber craft arena. But new, amazing crochet designers are beginning to pop up that will make you want to pick up a hook and give crochet a try. Check out these lovelies I pinned to my crochet pin board:

And check out some of my own projects, reviews, and patterns:
Projects like these, are what I am shooting for with this series. They will be current, pretty, and…well hip! I am a sewer first, crocheter second, so some of my projects will incorporate a little bit of sewing here and there as well.
I’m not going to keep a strict schedule, but I plan to share at least one crochet project, review, guest, etc. each week from now until Spring. There is nothing like a little needle…er hook craft 😉 to get you through the Winter. I love curling up on the couch at night with a crochet project as I watch the snow pile up out my window. It’s the best.
Are you new to crochet? Even better!
My projects are going to be geared toward beginners. In fact, my first few projects will just be using chains! Chains are the most basic stitch and are the easiest to master. Each project after that will slowly build in more and more new stitches until you are ready to conquer or at least try almost any crochet project.
I highly encourage you to read up on The Aesthetic Nest’s Head Over Heels in Crochet series. You can check out an interview I did for the series HERE. Anneliese adeptly and clearly teaches all the basic stitches and then some. She also has some great patterns for free and for purchase that are worth checking out.
See you then!
