Pink: Anna from Noodlehead

I am pleased to introduce my first guest for the series…the lovely Anna from Noodlehead!

I’m sure you already know her. Her impeccable, inspiring sewing. Her lovely photography. Her two adorable daughters who she sews for often…and not the typical girl stuff either, which I love. Her beautiful quilting ability. She’s definitely one to have in your google reader.

Today she’s sharing a pink friendship bracelet with us.
Perfect for little girls, and girls not so little…I want one!

Here’s Anna…

Thanks so much Delia for putting together another round of Color Your Summer! I’m so happy to be joining in this year.  I definitely can  relate to PINK, after all I’ve got two little girls who both love pink.

I tried to convert them to liking other colors, was pretty sucessfull for a while.  My oldest liked red for a long time, my youngest used to love blue, but now they both change their minds almost daily (like their mother perhaps?!).

So I figured they might give me some inspiration for this Color Your Summer project.  It worked pretty well.  I definitely think they’ll be giving their friends these fabric friendship bracelets.  These are so easy and quick to make up, use your favorite fabric and you’ll have plenty leftover.  Just don’t forget to share them with your friends!

Materials:

  • 2″ tall by 7.5″ long piece of fabric (longer or shorter depending on the size wrists you’ll be making them for)
  • scrap of lightweight fusible interfacing (optional)
  • embroidery floss for the ties
  • thread, etc.

Measure your wrist, below is an example of my wrist and how I got the measurement.

Step 1:
Cut your fabric, fuse on interfacing if you choose to use some).  I used Robert Kaufmann Essex Linen in Hot Pink!

Step 2:

Press the fabric in by 1/4″ on all 4 sides.

Fold in half lengthwise again.

Step 3:

Braid three strands of embroidery floss.  Make two, about 6″ long, tie knots at each end on both pieces.

Step 4:

Sew around all four edges, tucking the braided ties into each end as you go.

Step 5:
Wear and share with your friends!

Here’s to a great summer!

What a great project for using up scraps!
I have small scraps of my favorite fabrics that I just can’t part with.
Now I know what I’m going to do with them.
And I love those fabrics. Anna always has a keen eye for the best fabrics.
Thank you Anna for helping to Color our Summer!
