I took the Clean Slate Pants/Shorts pattern from Blank Slate Patterns and remixed it a little bit in the same way that I did for my Project Run & Play Finale look HERE... With contrasting twill instead of leather of course.
It’s a great basic pattern that is easy to modify and personalize. The fit is great, the sewing instructions are easy to follow and Melissa provides really simple yet thorough instructions for welt pocket (which I didn’t use this time) and A ZIP FLY! They make you feel like a sewing super star! (spirit fingers)
I created some upper pieces to make them look more jean like, added back pockets, and skinnified the shorts using the Peekaboo Pattern’s Skinny Jeans pattern for reference.
I also included a pop of color in the pocket lining…just because I could. Why sew them if you can’t personalize them, right?
The pants are sewn a size 7 with a size 8 length which proved to be just right. Almost too right, actually. I am hoping he doesn’t grow out of them before summer is over! Well…yet another hand me down for Reid to enjoy in a few years. 🙂
Now Owen has more than one measly pair of shorts. Yay!
That calls for some jumping!
(I have more shorts I whipped up as well. Can’t wait to show you soon! )
And check out the rest of the line up for the whole series:
I super feel honored to be apart of Shorts on the Line!
Hope you’re having an awesome day!
