DIY Easter Basket Fillers Round Up

April 4, 2014 · Delia 4 Comments

Want to put a personal touch on your Easter baskets this year?

I rounded up a dozen ways to do just that with some DIY Easter Basket Filler ideas.

DIY Easter Basket Fillers

There is nothing more personal than handmade.

I love these adorable felt bunny bags from Mer Mag. Fill with Easter candy or little toys. Felt is a cinch to sew and Merilee provides a free pattern for the bag HERE.

Here is more bunny inspiration from Mer Mag. She sewed up this adorable bunny hat by adapting a project from the Oliver+S book, Little Things To Sew. See more HERE.

The Purl Bee sells a kit to make these beautiful wool felt sheep finger puppets. You can buy the kit and make them or simply gift the kit to your child. Go HERE to learn more.

Want a quick and easy, no sew Easter DIY? This carrot play dough fits and bill and it’s so fun! I Heart Naptime has all the details plus a free printable for that cute tag HERE.

Kojodesigns created these darling rabbit softies using the free black apple doll pattern from Martha Stewart. Read more HERE.

I think it would be so fun to make this the Easter basket itself! Fill with felt veggies and then maybe add some extra surprises like books and candy into the soil folds. Idea is from A Beautiful Mess found HERE.

Make some fun DIY sidewalk chalk using popsicle molds. Get the recipe and instructions from Hello, Wonderful HERE.

Here is another fun sewing project. Make a soft lamb from felt or fleece (which is usually on sale this time of year because it is a winter fabric). The original tutorial is from The Purl Bee but the photo is from MADE. I just love that colorful blue lamb.

This project takes minimal sewing is quite possibly the cutest spin on bunny ears I have ever seen. They twist on like a twisty tie! Go to the House That Lars Built for full instructions HERE.

Do you remember pop up puppets? Mer Mag shares this charming DIY bunny pop up puppet with full instructions. Go HERE to get them.

These last two projects are from Dora, shop owner of Paul Street Shop and blogger at Untrendy Life.

Robot magnets and blocks (8 of 20)She designed these adorable robots with mix and match body parts. You can adhere them to wood tiles and make them magnets, or laminate them and use them as a file folder game (she includes the file folder template as well).

She contacted me to see if I would like to make some for my kids. I just knew they would love this so I said yes! We made the basic robots plus the new Easter robots. I love that egg robot the best. 🙂

Robot magnets and blocks (17 of 20)The wood tiles are hard to find in large packs, I recommend going online to buy in bulk if you want a lot of tiles.

Robot magnets and blocks (2 of 20) Robot magnets and blocks (7 of 20)She also sent me a sneak peek file to make these fun egg puzzle blocks, perfect for toddlers. Wood blocks are a lot easier to find than wood tiles. You just need four 1 1/2 inch blocks and I found a pack of six at Hobby Lobby for around $2 with a coupon. Dora will have this as a free download on her site soon! Update: You can now get the free Easter Egg blocks download HERE.

Robot magnets and blocks (19 of 20) Or you can buy these storytelling blocks for older kids. They are a great way to stretch their imaginations in a fun way.

Because Dora is so nice, she is offering 15% off  everything in her shop to Delia Creates readers! Simply enter DELIA15 at checkout…AND… if you buy the Basic Build A Bot file, you will get the Easter Bot file free! Just make sure you use that promo code.

Happy creating!

Thanks Delia for the feature! I love how your bots turned out. I still have to make my own Easter bots. And thank you for the other fantastic ideas as well! I need to make those cute bunnies for my 1 year old.
