I felt super lucky to be a tester and to review the pattern. Dana’s attention to detail is superb and she has designed it so well, it practically sews itself.

This pattern is unique. You purchase just the pattern pieces and then follow the different tutorials for each variation (and there are many) on Dana’s blog.
See the聽basic shorts, the聽flat front shorts,聽shorts with pockets, and聽racer shorts…for a look at her list of shorts tutorials so far.
What makes this so genius, is that she keeps adding more options and more tutorials over time, making that pattern purchase worth every single penny and more. It’s just $6 for sizes 12 m to 10 years!!
And the fit? Spot on.
Of course. What else would you expect from Dana?
I sewed up two pairs for Owen both with flat fronts. 聽I used the size 7 shorts with a size 8 length.
For one I used bias tape detailing and an extra little bias taped pocket in the back. The second one I kept pretty basic, and just added front pockets.
The finish on these short is so professional. Whenever I see them in a pile of laundry I have to do a double take to see if it’s the pair I really hand made…even when it’s inside out. That makes me happy.
They also aren’t like every pair of shorts in the stores though either. I love the design and how they stand out in a cool way.
