Pattern Anthology Just Add Jeans Tour

March 12, 2014 · Delia 34 Comments

Have you guys seen the new Pattern Anthology collection this time? It’s for women!

Just Add Jeans Tour (2 of 25)Awesome right?

If Pattern Anthology is not on your radar yet, you can read more about it HERE, and see the other pattern collection tours I have participated in here and here.

The theme of the new collection is Just Add Jeans. So, all the patterns are tops, and, as the name implies,  you just add jeans!

edit1 Just Add Jeans Tour (5 of 25)

Genius, if you ask me.

I sewed up two of the four patterns in the collection. The Day Tripper and The Parisian.

This is the Day Tripper.

Just Add Jeans Tour (9 of 25)

I made the long sleeve version in Hacci sweater knit. This particular knit is pretty see through, so it needed an undershirt.

I also couldn’t decide on which shoes I liked for these pictures…so I included both. Day time and party time. 😉 hee.

Just Add Jeans Tour (4 of 25)

I used Hacci knit for the sleeve and hem cuffs, and used the recommended ribbed knit for the neckline. The Hacci made the hem more relaxed but it also bunches up more…as you can see. It worked great at the sleeves though.

I love, love how comfy this top is. The cut is really flattering and easy to wear too. I already have plans to use some jersey knit in my stash to whip up some short sleeve versions for summer.

The pattern also comes with with a shoulder tab detail and side seam pockets (!), which I didn’t utilize this time. It’s such a fun pattern! 🙂

The next top is The Parisian.

Just Add Jeans Tour (13 of 25)

A cute fitted top with a slight puff sleeve, and a peter pan collar.

Just Add Jeans Tour (17 of 25) Just Add Jeans Tour (15 of 25)

I got the preliminary version of the pattern, so my version is a bit short. The final pattern comes a little longer. I also kind of have a long torso for how petite the rest of me is, so I when I make this again I think I’ll lengthen it just a titch more.

Otherwise, it’s a pretty fun sew. I especially like the peter pan collar.

edit1-002

It’s the details like that and the gathered sleeve that make it look really polished and pretty. I love how this top is easy to dress up and down.

It sort of has a nice casual feel to it, don’t you think? I totally plan on wearing it with a pencil skirt to church.

And isn’t that little bee locket fun? (see source below)

Just Add Jeans Tour (3 of 25)

Sources & Sponsors:

Day Tripper: Hacci Striped Sweater Knit from Girl Charlee, Ribbing from Jo-Ann

The Parisian: Mint and Cream Striped Ponte De Roma from Girl Charlee, Eighties vintage feedsack floral fabric from my stash (collar)

Necklace: Bee Locket from Jacaranda Designs

Jeans: Forever 21 (both pairs)

edit1-001

You can buy all four patterns in the collection for roughly $7.50 each (huge discount for a women’s pattern!), so a total of just under $30 for the bundle. After the two week tour, they go up to their regular price of $12 a piece. I have some major sewing plans for me and the kids coming up, and they include the other patterns I didn’t use this time around. Can’t wait to share them!

Your tops are great. In fact these are exactly those two patterns that stood out to me when I saw the collection. I’m still debating whether to buy the whole collection or just those two…

Thank you Annika! These caught my eye first too, but I’m excited to sew the others up as dresses. The City Girl has the dress option already, and Stef from Girl.Inspired sewed the Wildflower up as a dress yesterday. If you think about it…if you buy two of the patterns for $12 that’s $24. Pay only $6 more for the other two patterns? 😉

Beautiful tops! They look so comfy. I particularly love the mint stripe on your Parisian. I bought the collection during the pre-sale last week and hope to start sewing some up this weekend!

Very cute! These are my favorite patterns–great for everyday casual wear, easy to dress up or down. I’ve given up spending money on myself (sewing especially–I’m a little out of control!) for Lent. This pattern pack is very tempting! Glad it will be available later in spring too!

Oh no! That must be terribly tempting! But yes…there is always later. 🙂 That way you have time to see how everyone else has been sewing them up too.

Ok. You can’t “add jeans” and then not source the jeans! My very favorite jeans in the whole world were the hope & Howard jeans sold by shade. Shade is gone now!!! Whaaaaa

haha. good point! I’ll add it in. But to answer your question, my jeans are from Forever 21. They are so comfy, fit great, and are $7.80 a pair. Can’t beat that!

Oh. My. Goodness! I love the fabrics you used for the Parisian top. I bought the patterns on pre-sale and have just been looking for the perfect fabric for them. Those steps and that wall kinda look like you were at the Salt Lake City library.

Love the Parisian! I generally can’t wear puffed sleeves (makes me look like a football player….) but I’m sorely tempted to buy this pattern anyway. Love the mint stripe you used. =)

Thanks Charity! 🙂 I know what you mean. You don’t want to look like you have eighties shoulder pads either right? ha. The puff in these sleeves is slight though. Just enough to add a feminine touch.

Exactly! =) It doesn’t help that I have broad shoulders to begin with. (Mine are only 1/2″ narrower than my husband’s)
