Today, I’m sharing my last…and favorite…foam board project.
The 101 uses of foam board guide from Elmer’s, shared some game/kid game ideas. I took that inspiration loosely and came up with this game.
I don’t have a name for it yet because I just made it up :)… but the main goal of the game is to spend time getting to know each other as a family.
You roll the die, most likely have to pick a card, or have your neighbor pick one and then do what the card tells you to.
Some cards have questions, and some ask you to do silly things like stand on your head.
There is no winner in this game. We just play until everyone makes it “home.” 馃檪
If my kids like the game, I plan on adding more cards pertinent to their age as they grow. They haven’t seen it yet because it’s going to be our Christmas Eve game this year. We get a new game every Christmas Eve to play before bed…and this is it for this year. I’m pretty excited.
The foam bi-fold worked perfectly as the base for my game board.
I used photoshop to create a blank file. Then I used picnik to add the shapes to the board. I finished up by adding the text in picasa. I just used whatever program was easiest to use for each step.
I then got it printed up at a local print shop. I much prefer printing color images at a print shop. They can do it for cheaper and at a much higher quality. This print cost me under $1.50 and I even got it printed on some glossy card stock. I then adhered it to the foam board with Elmer’s extra strength glue stick. That’s some good stuff.
Next, I made up some game pieces.
I found these silhouette images online through google images. I made sure to only get the ones that said free download and such…or didn’t have a watermark over it.
I then mounted them – same picture on both sides – to a small rectangle of foam board with Elmer’s extra strength glue stick, mod podged them…
then added a little piece at the bottom {with notches in both pieces} to make it stand up right.
I added one for our little girl as well. I didn’t make her a baby silhouette because she won’t be able to play really until she’s older anyway.
The cards…
聽are a bunch of questions and fun actions typed up in Microsoft Word and printed on some colorful card stock {also printed at my local print shop}.
We happen to have a collection of dice from other games that fell apart or lost pieces, so that’s where our die came from.
And the game is complete!
I’m hoping it will bring us a lot of memories in the years to come.

This is such a fun idea! I also love the simple idea of mod podging a picture to foam board for a child's room! Thanks for the top on the high iso and battery life. I have a battery grip, which helps a lot, so I am sure I will be getting a lot of use out of my 1600 iso setting:) Also, I just had to share this comment with you that my friend left on my blog regarding my photography post
