Ahhh…Family pictures.
That special time of year when Mom makes everyone wear the clothes she picked out whether you want to or not.
聽Then ‘makes’ everyone smile and pretend like we’re having a great time! ha ha…
…even if we hate it!
I got this remote for my camera recently.
I decided again not to hire a photographer this year, since we are adding another one to our family fairly soon. So I thought it would be fun to take our own again, but without the headache of using the timer like we did last year. Plus…this remote was only about $25. Totally worth it. You can auto refocus each shot with the remote, so there is a lot less blurriness if any.

Using the remote was a huge improvement over using the timer, but it still wasn’t a perfect process…

We still got funny shots. Sometimes because the remote was smarter than us {or me really!}…
Other times…because we couldn’t decide on a way to pose.

We would get the kids in place…and then they would get bored and start moving around or pulling faces…but that’s typical for family pictures anyway right? We kept clicking away just for the fun of it.

Dad thought the whole thing was hilarious. The kids…didn’t.

聽We finally figured it out and got a couple of good ones. The remote is obvious but only if you’re really looking for it. Looks like I’m holding my keys.
聽I tried merging other photos in with a better smile of Owen and my husband. Bonus…the remote is gone…but now it looks like I lost a hand. Didn’t notice it before? Well…I bet you can’t help but notice it now. 馃檪
聽We also got some of just Jared and I together.
I love to get those. 馃檪
Despite what my children think. This was all for a purpose.
Christmas cards of course!
I just ordered ours and got an email saying they’re on their way.
When they get here,
I’ll post again, but with a $30 credit code for all my lovely readers,
to a company I’ve blogged about before.

  8. what great family pics. We are doing our own pics as well for the second year. With 3 kids I can't justify the expense of having pics done.

  18. Oh Delia! Those are great. They start out great and slowly get more and more hysterical! I didn’t even see the remote in the first one until I scrolled back up. My daughters came in when they heard me laughing and we went back through all of them. The last one is beautiful! I am once again impressed. You never cease to amaze me. 馃檪

  20. Last year my husband and I tried to take our Christmas card picture ourselves. Bad idea! Having a 9 month old, a very excitable dog, and a very perfection-oriented husband, makes for a grouchy family and a not so great picture. But your pictures are beautiful!
