Five and Ten Designs Easter Dress + Giveaway

April 10, 2014 · Delia 24 Comments

Today, I cheated…er upcycled…depending on how you look at it. 馃槈

Easter Dress (6 of 6)

I took Natalie’s chiffon holiday dress, replaced the black velvet ribbon with this gold satin ribbon from The Ribbon Retreat…

Easter Dress (1 of 6)

and…Bippity Boppity Boo…

Suits and Blazer (47 of 120)

Her new Easter dress!

Suits and Blazer (35 of 120)

It’s one of the pros of making a white Christmas dress I guess. 馃檪

Plus, those tiny chiffon hems, and tiny satin and chiffon covered buttons were a labor of love that I couldn’t pack up just yet.

Easter Dress2

Unpicking the old ribbon and replacing it was easily done.

The lovely gold satin ribbon from聽The Ribbon Retreat (go here for a $50 giveaway also running this week!) is a little stiffer than I anticipated, but I think it should hold up well through hand washing. Or who knows? Maybe I’ll shake things up and keep replacing it with a new color until she grows out of the dress. I do have some blue satin ribbon in my stash…

Suits and Blazer (90 of 120)

It’s no secret that I love the basic Five & Ten Designs dress with sleeves. (Scroll to the bottom for the Five and Ten e-book giveaway!)

Suits and Blazer (51 of 120)

I’m not just saying that because I am one of the authors of the Five and Ten e-book.聽See my other versions as proof here,聽here,聽here, and聽here. It’s totally my favorite go to basic dress pattern.

The original book comes with sleeveless and cap sleeve options like these ones I made聽here聽and聽here, but I am a sucker for standard to mid length sleeves.聽Especially since, the unique method we use (see the free sleeve download on our site) gives you a completely lined sleeve with no raw edges or frustrating sleeve setting. It is a slimmer sleeve pattern than most, but I prefer it.

Easter Dress1Natalie’s gold star hair clip is from this post here.

The gold shoes are from Old Navy from a year ago. I have been hoarding them for Nat, hoping she would have grown into them by now. They are size 5 and are still too large if you can believe it. She is just barely fitting into size fours!Suits and Blazer (57 of 120)

I love how the gold in Natalie’s dress complements the boys’ Spring suits I shared yesterday. Gold is definitely shaping up to be our color of the year this year.

Suits and Blazer (78 of 120)Oh goodness. These three. 馃檪

Easter DressSuits and Blazer (83 of 120)I was totally lucky to get some good ones of all three of them together…even though they wouldn’t all look at me at the same time.聽

Suits and Blazer (87 of 120)This picture more accurately sums up how the rest of the shoot went. hahahaaa.

Okay, you ready to win a copy of the Five and Ten Designs Dress E-book!?

I think it’s great you found a way to reuse that gorgeous dress. Kids grow so quickly it’s nice to reuse what you can. They all look so gorgeous together!

Um, hello! You made TWO suits. I think you can take a pass on a dress when you have such a perfect one already made! They are just gorgeous! And ho win the world did I miss those shoes at Old Navy? Love ’em!

I know! They have a new cute gold pair there now that I want, but I haven’t gotten them because Natalie hasn’t even really fully grown into these yet. But…let’s be honest. If there are any left at the end of the season I will probably snatch up a pair anyway. 馃槈
