Pretty in Pink Christmas Dress

Who says pink can’t be a Christmas color?

Not me! 🙂

When I saw this blush pink stretch denim at Jo-Ann I knew Natalie just had to have a dress made out of it.

It is a bit thick for dress fabric, but as a winter dress it totally works!

I used the Five and Ten Designs Volume Three book. It’s kind of a mix of the basic dress (look one), look three, and look four.

I lengthened the sleeve a bit, sewed on some leather elbow patches, added front pockets, and a line of thrifted, black vintage buttons up the front.

Nat runs petite, so I sewed up the size 2T with a few inches of length added on. It worked perfectly!

I used a crisp, white cotton for the collar and the sleeve cuffs.

I love its clean, simple mix of modern and vintage.

To complete Nat’s look, I added a pair of Woodland Knee High Socks (Amazon affiliate link) and some black dress shoes from Old Navy.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve been as pleased with a dress as I am with this one. It was a simple sew, with simple details, but it’s totally my favorite so far!

And just for fun…

The sun/clouds started to do some funny things toward the end of our photo shoot, so I got some Peter Pan shadow shots that I thought turned out pretty cute.

Second star to the right and straight on ’til Christmas! 😉

I love the little black buttons with the collar! And the whole dress looks really cute on Natalie (those curls!)

Thank you Charity! I know…her curls are my favorite. The longer her hair gets, the looser they get. It almost makes me want to keep cutting her hair short! But if I give her hair a good douse of water, for a few hours they still spring up like this. I love it.
