If you caught my post about the new Five and Ten Designs E-book Volume 3, then you’ll recognize this top as Look 7…or what I have nicknamed it as…the Tulip Top!
With tulip sleeves, and a half tulip bodice, it’s blooming with little details throughout. 馃槈
Each layer is finished with tiny bias tape trim, helping those details really pop.
Look 7 is technically designed to be a top, but you can easily聽adapt it back to dress length if you want.
Honestly, Nat would prefer this as a dress, girly girl that she is. I redeemed it’s聽less exciting聽“top” status by putting “kitties!” on it. So she’s still a happy camper. 馃槈
The gold, pipe cleaner kitty ears made her even more amenable. As you can see! ha.
This girl. She is obsessed with the only animal her brothers are super allergic to. Forbidden love.
Even if you aren’t obsessed like she is, it’s hard not to love this fun, modern cat fabric from Alexia Marcelle Abegg’s Cotton + Steel Hatbox collection! Love! The mint colored double gauze lining is from Cotton + Steel as well. And since we are talking sources, the bias tape is from Jo-Ann, and the button is from my stash.

And just for chuckles. Here’s an outtake. The balloon prop and headband at the same time was a little too much for her. The balloon would bounce on her hair and make her want to “fix” her kitty ears. This is the result. haaaa!
Nat is growing up so quickly. Look at her hair now! So adorable. Can you talk a little bit about your photobooth set up indoors? It looks like you’re using a paper background. There are very few spots in my house which result in good photos so we always have to go outside but that’s such a variable, especially here in New England.

For my photo back drop, I use the Savage brand photography papers and put them on a heavy duty back drop stand. I got it all on Amazon. I was using our living room at our rental. I had to push all our couches to one side of the room to get it to fit. At our new house, I’m going to use it in our garage. It is strangely really bright in there because it has windows, and if I need more light, I like that I can open the garage doors. I know a lot of bloggers who use their garage because of that. The white background is really great, because it acts like it’s own reflector as well. I got the super long roll (I think $60/roll) so that Nat could roam around on it and I wouldn’t have to make her stay contained in a tight space. I know that’s a lot for paper, but it’s sturdy stuff and easy to reuse. I used the first bit of the roll for a few months, and just barely had to cut some of it off, because the paper got too dirty and wrinkled. I still have a ton of the roll to go, so it’s a pretty good investment. You can also get the narrower rolls for about $30. I have the black paper in that size…..I hope that helps? Thanks, I will have to check out the backdrop stand. I do have those savage paper but mine are very small meant for photographing small objects. The garage is an interesting idea. Except I am ashamed at how dirty mine is 馃檨
Don’t be ashamed! We have always had a crazy cluttered garage. I told my husband that I wanted to finally organize ours, now that we have our own home. So that’s our project this weekend. I totally understand!:)

Aw thanks Candice! I am so sorry, but it won’t. We are keeping all the looks together. Seriously, isn’t that kitty fabric so rad!? Love it. And yes…pipe cleaner kitty ears…they are a cinch to make!
I want to make pipe cleaner butterfly wings for my little one. She is into them lately. I wish pipe cleaners came in longer lengths.
